Milind is responsible for the leadership, integration and strategy of the company. Milind has over 20 years of experience in envisioning and creating technology products and solutions for the world’s most critical business challenges. He possesses a unique combination of deep skills in Information Technology, broad experience in Business Management and champions best practices in global leadership. He has successfully managed large SAP implementations for Fortune 100 companies. He is a speaker at Industry conferences and has co-authored a paper published by MIT’s center for digital innovation. Milind holds a Bachelors of Computer Engineering from University of Pune and a Masters of Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Jay B. Shelat
Executive Vice President
Jay is responsible for overall sales development and marketing strategies. Additionally, he provides expertise in revenue management, customer service, and handling. Jay brings nearly 30 years’ experience in airlines, cargo, and logistics. As the VP of Cargo at Jet Airways in Mumbai, India, Jay led a team that grew revenue almost 80% in 5 years. At American Airlines, Jay successfully managed a global team of sales executives, maintained relationships with 120 airline partners, and provided consistent year-over-year growth under very challenging industry conditions.
Vice President, Japan
Shigekazu manages SmartKargo in Japan, including domestic sales, solution development, and global delivery/deployment. He has more than 35 years of cargo experience. Previously, Shigekazu worked with other well-known cargo and logistics industries such as American Airlines (Cargo), Emery Worldwide, Mitsui, and Hitachi. Shigekazu holds a Bachelors in Statistical Management from Tokyo Science University.
Vice President Marketing
Rob Britton has spent his entire working life, 45 years, in and near the airline industry. He spent 22 years with American Airlines in a variety of leadership roles in marketing, international affairs, corporate communications, and operations. Rob lectures on airline management and strategy annually at more than 25 business schools worldwide. He holds a Ph.D. in geography from the University of Minnesota, and a postdoctoral certificate in business from the University of Pennsylvania.
Mohan leads SmartKargo’s team in India, including domestic, solution development, and global delivery/deployment. Previously, Mohan spent eight years in senior roles at a family investment office and in private equity, and more than a decade leading software product management, design, development and delivery teams for various companies, including Microsoft. Mohan holds a MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management, and Bachelor of Engineering from Nagpur University.
Chief Operating Officer
Prasanna leads the Solutions & Services team, building the capabilities that make SmartKargo the world’s most advanced air cargo management solution. Prasanna has over 20 years of experience in technology, people & business process management, and more than 10 years’ experience in consulting. He has managed large projects in supply chain optimization for large corporations using a combination of best business practices and enterprise software. Pras holds a MBA from Sloan School of Business, a Bachelors in Computer Engineering, and is PMP & six-sigma certified.
Des joined SmartKargo in early 2015 after a long and vibrant career in air cargo. Des’ role is to provide strategic direction – to ensure that SmartKargo evolves to meet the changing needs and demands of airlines and their partners in the cargo chain. He comes to SmartKargo after retiring as head of cargo at IATA, a post he held for four years. Prior to IATA, Des led cargo teams at four airlines, including British Airways, Air Canada, and Etihad. Vice President, Cargo Solutions
Vladimir leads SmartKargo’s implementation and deployment team. He is the “first to arrive and the last to leave.” He brings over 15 years of airline and air cargo operations experience. He was a manager of Cargo Services (JFK) for American Airlines, and served in the rebuilding of Iraq in 2004. Previously, Vladimir worked for Hertz and consulted with the many large organizations. He holds a Bachelors in Business Administration from St. Francis College and a MBA in Finance from St. John’s University. He is also an Adjunct Professor at Vaughn College of Aeronautics & Technology and other schools.
Vice President – Regulatory Compliance
Orrin leads SmartKargo’s customs implementation team. He has over 35 years of cargo experience, including 9 in airline IT development and 16 as Customs Compliance Manager for Northwest and Delta airlines. Orrin was affiliated with several associations working to improve airline relations with customs agencies, and served as Vice President of the IATA Customs Advisory Group, Chairman of the Customs Air Manifest User Group, and other organizations and committees.
